I had the most amazing time at Fiesta Island Dog Park today! If you haven’t been, it should definitely be on your list.
I’ve always wondered why Fiesta Island was voted the Best Dog Park in America by USA Today 10Best readers. Finally, I went there for the first time and I got the answer I was looking for. So I’m sharing one of my favorite moments with you.
FIESTA ISLAND OFF-LEASH DOG PARK
First of all, which dog doesn’t like to be off-leash with plenty of room to run and swim?
Most of this large island is off-leash with endless shores to run, sandy dunes to romp across and the calm bay water is perfect for swimming.
Fiesta Island is also a great spot for bicycle riding, running, water sports and bonfires.
BEAUTIFUL SCENERY & NEARBY MISSION BAY ATTRACTIONS
You have views of Mission Bay, Downtown San Diego, and Sea World.
FIESTA ISLAND DIRECTIONS & PARKING
From Interstate 5, take the Sea World Drive exit and head southwest, then make a right onto East Mission Bay Drive, then turn left to Fiesta Island. There is free parking throughout the island.
FIESTA ISLAND FACILITIES
- Picnics are not permitted for this area.
- Available Hours: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Food is permitted but no glass containers. Alcohol is not permitted.
- Restrooms: There are no restrooms available on the island. Portable toilets are located on the other side of Fiesta Island.

PLENTY OF SPACE FOR TRAINING AND ACTIVITIES
This morning went so quickly and I am extremely lucky to have these memories with Mila by my side. Mila is my Malinois friend that I met a few months ago at our first San Diego Malinois Meetup. She also has an Instagram page: @mila.go.toes.
Make sure to bring plenty of water for you and your dog, as there are no water fountains located on the island.
What about you? Have you ever been to Fiesta Island? What is your favorite dog park in your city? I’d love to hear from you.
